About Taus

Taus is a Copenhagen-based ready-to-wear and demi-couture studio founded in 2024 by Freyja Taus and Juho Lehiö. Guided by a belief in craftsmanship and considered pace, Taus approaches clothing as an ongoing conversation: between past and present, body and silhouette, maker and wearer. Each garment emerges from this dialogue, shaped by curiosity about identity, class, and the ritual of dressing. Thoughtful in construction and generous in spirit, the pieces invite reinterpretation. They are objects meant to be lived with, returned to, and understood anew over time before passing them further.

Our Practice

We work with care and patience, allowing each piece to unfold slowly. Most pieces are shaped within our Copenhagen studio, while others are created in collaboration with a select circle of European artisans. Our approach favors made-to-order and bespoke creations, honoring the craft while minimizing waste. For us, sustainability is not a label or a slogan; it is a rhythm, a way of moving through the studio and the world, attentive to materials, people, and process.

Upcycling is a vital part of the Taus identity. We breathe new life into textiles and garments that have been forgotten, transforming them through our hands into something renewed.

Philosophy

We believe in garments that carry weight. Emotionally, ethically, and materially. That a hem can hold memory, that a seam can convey softness or strength. Influenced by heirlooms, vintage tailoring, and archival silhouettes, Taus reinterprets the past to shape a contemporary wardrobe. Our collections are seen through the lens of queer identity and the complexities of class, themes central to the work of our founders.

The Process

What we make, we make with time. Every step, from sketch to final stitch, is intentional. We design garments to be worn and re-worn, to age gracefully, to be passed down, and to be adapted or repaired so they can live with you. At Taus, the process is never hidden, it is part of the story. We believe craft should be cherished and that slowing down allows us to act with intention, thought, and purpose in everything we create.
