SUSTAINABILITY AT TAUS
At Taus, sustainability is not an initiative, it is a foundation.
We design clothing with care and with consequence: pieces that hold meaning, that last beyond a season, that carry weight in the world.
Ours is a slow process. One grounded in respect: for material, for time, for the people who shape each garment.
We do not claim perfection. The world has enough clothing.
But we believe in making fewer things, made better.
DESIGNING WITH PURPOSE
Sustainability begins at the sketch.
We design for longevity. Through quality, adjustability, and timeless form.
Our garments are made to evolve with the wearer. To move forward. To remain.
Each piece is crafted with wearability in mind: repairable, functional, and free from fleeting trends. We offer free repairs for all pieces bought from us, in case you'd like to enquire about repair services you can contact us.
PRODUCTION & MATERIALS
Most of our pieces are made in-house, in our Copenhagen studio.
This allows us to oversee every step of the process from the first cut to the final thread, and to uphold the standards we hold close. When we collaborate with others, we work with small, family-run ateliers in Italy and across Europe, such as leather specialists and craftspeople who share our values.
All Taus garments are made to order.
We do not hold inventory; each piece begins only once your order is placed. Crafted slowly, by hand, in our studio or with trusted artisans. This approach allows us to work with intention: minimizing waste, reducing our footprint, and maintaining exceptional quality. Every garment is created with care, one at a time.
Because we produce on demand, lead times are longer than in mass production.
Estimated production times are listed on each product page. Should any delays arise due to high volumes or material sourcing we will let you know right away. Please note that certain details may vary slightly from what is shown online. Zippers, hardware, or stitching placement may differ subtly depending on available materials, though never in ways that alter the essence or function of the piece.
We use mono-materials wherever possible and actively seek out upcycled and deadstock fabrics, materials that already exist in the world.
For our Autumn–Winter 2025 collection:
50% upcycled · 38.32% deadstock · 11.76% virgin materials
Traceability remains a challenge, particularly with deadstock, yet we choose only verified sources and remain committed to keeping our footprint low, always.
If you have any questions or need support at any stage, we welcome you to contact us.
LOGISTICS & PACKAGING
We minimize transport through local production and regional sourcing.
Land freight is prioritized over air. Returns are reduced through careful sizing tools and direct customer support.
Our packaging is plastic-free wherever possible. Recycled cardboard, natural fibers.
Only bespoke garments sent internationally are packaged in protective plastic, to ensure safe delivery.
PEOPLE & PRACTICE
We are a small studio: two full-time founders and one intern.
We work Monday to Friday, within humane hours, and we never outnumber our staff with interns.
Support, balance, and growth matter — inside our studio and beyond it.
We believe in representation.
Though our garments primarily serve women 30+, we are expanding our size range and deepening our understanding of inclusive and adaptive design — with plans to integrate these changes across all collections by late 2025.
We prioritize fair labor, small-scale production, and long-term partnerships with artisans.
Every person involved in our process is treated with respect and paid fairly.
YOUR ROLE
We see you — the wearer — as part of the cycle.
Mindful purchasing.
Caring for your clothes.
Passing them on when the time feels right.
We offer a care guide, complimentary repairs, and free trouser hemming to help your pieces live longer and fit better.
If you have questions, contact us.
Transparency is part of our practice. So is progress.
